Product Description

A YAGE waterproof cable gland is a type of cable gland specifically designed to provide a high level of protection against water and moisture ingress. It is commonly used in outdoor, damp, or wet environments where cables need to be securely connected and protected from water-related damage.

The main features of a waterproof cable gland include:

Sealing Mechanism: Waterproof cable glands are equipped with sealing mechanisms, such as rubber or synthetic sealing rings, gaskets, or O-rings. These sealing components create a tight and waterproof seal around the cables, preventing water, moisture, dust, and other contaminants from entering the enclosure or panel.

IP Rating: Waterproof cable glands are often assigned an Ingress Protection (IP) rating that indicates their level of protection against water and solids. The IP rating consists of two digits, with the first digit indicating the level of protection against solids and the second digit indicating the level of protection against liquids. For example, an IP68 rating signifies a high level of protection against both solids and liquids.

Construction Materials: Waterproof cable glands are typically constructed from materials that are resistant to water, corrosion, and UV exposure. Common materials include stainless steel, brass, or high-quality plastics such as nylon or polypropylene.

Compression Nut and Locknut: Similar to other cable glands, waterproof cable glands feature compression nuts and locknuts. The compression nut secures the cable within the gland, providing strain relief and maintaining a tight seal. The locknut is used to secure the cable gland to the equipment or panel, ensuring a firm and secure connection.

When installing a waterproof cable gland, it is crucial to follow the manufacturer's instructions and consider the specific requirements of the application. However, the general steps for installation include:

Drill or punch a hole in the desired location of the enclosure or panel to accommodate the cable gland.

Insert the cable through the hole, leaving enough length for proper termination inside the enclosure.

Slide the sealing components, such as sealing rings or gaskets, onto the cable.

Insert the cable into the body of the cable gland until the sealing component is positioned just outside the enclosure or panel.

Tighten the compression nut onto the body of the cable gland, compressing the sealing component and creating a waterproof seal around the cable.

Finally, secure the cable gland to the equipment or panel using the locknut, ensuring a firm and secure connection.

Waterproof cable glands are widely used in applications where cables are exposed to outdoor conditions, underground installations, marine environments, or any area where protection against water ingress is essential. They provide reliable cable management and ensure the integrity of electrical connections, even in challenging and moisture-prone settings.
